Dead at 95.
I never knew much about her but was mightily impressed as a teenager seeing some of her old films on the telly!
Sounds like her politics might have been a bit suspect in later years and I never knew she had a second career as a photo journalist snapping such names as Paul Newman, Salvador Dali, Aubrey Hepburn and even an exclusive with Fidel Castro.
RIP Gina

Am I the only person who'd never heard of Gina Lollobrigida?

Am I the only person who'd never heard of Gina Lollobrigida? You should have!
Humphrey Bogart on Gina Lollobrigida:
a woman who “makes Marilyn Monroe look like Shirley Temple”
Here's the trailer for her first movie in English, Beat The Devil, 1953

Am I the only person who'd never heard of Gina Lollobrigida? Probably not but I always remember her from the movie Trapeze starring alongside Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis.👍 RIP Gina.

loved Trapeze, even when you watch it for the Nth time you still wonder if they'll manage the "triple".

^That film rarely gets screen these days. It's a real pity as it's well worth watching.
In fact, anything with Burt Lancaster is worth a look👍

Burt Lancaster used to be an acrobat which obviously helped with his role in 'Trapeze'.
He also used his acrobatic skills when making 'The Train', great performance in a great film.👍

Interesting that Sid James was also in 'Trapeze'. Can imagine him and Gina nipping out together to put a bet on followed by half a pint of bitter...
Sid was quite a prolific character actor in the 50's.👍
