The Outcasts have received a lot of love already over on the Good Vibrations discussion thread I know Andy LS and Rogue are big fans Now they've got their own thread The Outcasts were formed in June 1977 in Belfast by the three Cowan brothers, Greg (vocals / bass), Martin (guitar/vocals), Colin (drums) and their friend Colin 'Getty' Getgoog (guitar), playing their first gig two months later.
'Just Another Teenage Rebel' / 'Love Is For Sops' (Good Vibrations, 1978) captures the Outcasts at their best, punk rock with a pop edge, both tracks are classics.
The Outcasts are still going strong...

Yes, a CLASS band that by the time they released their fantastic (but largely overlooked) second album in 1982 were really forging something unique...

'Don't want to be No Adult' & 'Love is for Sops' are great songs but they are two of many๐๐

Talking of poptastic punk artists (as we are on another thread), a lot of The Outcasts classic singles fall into that category...

I need to check out the other tunes (Winter, Machine Gun, Sex and Glory) which I will do soon

...Yes, The Outcasts... along with pretty much all the other first wave of Irish Punk Bands, couldn't help but be melodious, whatever the subject matter - It's in the blood...

...i think they were recorded during the brief time The Outcasts had two drummers, Colin Cowan and Fallsy. (Raymond Falls) When Colin died, Fallsy became the permanent drummer by default. I sometimes chat with Fallsy online, a nice guy.
Blood & Thunder was a very different album to the majority of UK Punk in 1982. The Outcasts weren't afraid to slow the tempo right down and come up with something haunting and atmospheric...

Needless to say, i have that single Not in the same league as their earlier records perhaps, but still a pretty good release and i'm glad they don't take themselves too seriously in the video.

...it was a fun night - a gang of us took the train over. Really early start to the gig though, as it was one of these 'Club Night' events on at 10pm. Outcasts on before 7:30, but despite that, they rocked out and with some hilarious banter between Greg Cowan and Petesy and the audience. Songs played included: Magnum Force, Gangland Warfare, Self Conscious Over You, 7 Deadly Sins, Stay Young, Love You For Never, The Cops Are Coming, Frustration... and to finish off You're A Disease Martin Cowan has had to bow out of playing these gigs (due to family matters), so Buck from the Defects has heroically stepped in to play rhythm guitar.

I'm no expert on the Outcasts but as I've said on here many times any band with Petesy Burns in it has to be well worth going to see.
Glad you enjoyed your night Andy.
What a great bloke he is!
