Fascinating doco... I suspect their plans were derailed by a new music movement which coincided with their bid for stardom

That's a gem Zeo The latest episode of the Word podcast mentioned this Aussie doc... HUSH, 1977 - Doco about their Road CrewThat was great. Thanks, Lord Em.
Hush was the first rock band I recall seeing live. They played a lunchtime gig at my school. Probably about 1975.

We all thought it was great. I distinctly remember the singer Keith Lamb making masturbatory hand gestures with the knobby bit of Les Gock's guitar. Snigger-snigger!
They didn't last much longer after that doco I think.
I went looking for a Chokito chocolate bar TV advert featuring the band, but it seems its missing. I remember it being pretty risque with Keith Lamb grasping the unsheathed Chokito at groin height and thrusting it about. Only rivalled by the pornographic deep-throat Flake chocolate bar advertisement

Finally watched the Punch doc, and made a start on the Hush one too
That Punch's idea of a break is getting on Opportunity Knocks suggests that street cred wasn't their primary goal. That said, they're a realistic bunch. Needless to say it's the incidental details of mid-70s life which are most fascinating. Shame their Opportunity Knocks appearance seems to have been lost.
The Hush roadcrew must be insane, surviving on so little sleep for next to nothing. Their real "reward" seems to be the reflected glory given Hush were enjoying a fair bit of success in Aus at the time. Looking forward to watching the rest of that one soon.

Back to Punch, how about those three "judges" for opportunity knocks?
What an unlikely trio - I can't get them out of my head
