Couldn’t find an existing thread for this topic, did anybody else see that Wooton-Fox segment yesterday? The fallout has been insane, both of have been suspended within a few hours of broadcasting and Fox has already set about attempting to burn them to the ground

Fox is an obnoxious buffoon. I was delighted when he stood up to the black woman on Question Time and refused to be intimidated when she accused him of "white privilege" – a phrase that has long since ceased to be useful and has become a convenient way to shut down debate. However, he's since turned into the worst kind of right-wing pundit: a sort of male Katie Hopkins, taking perverse stances (anti-vax, anti-science) on almost everything.

I've been reading that Ava Evans belittled male suicide and that's the background to this.

The head of GB News has signalled that Laurence Fox is likely to be sacked by describing his misogynist comments about a political journalist as “way past the limits of acceptance”. Angelos Frangopoulos, the station’s chief executive, said he was “appalled” by Fox’s comments, in his first interview since his channel suspended Fox and the presenter Dan Wootton after Tuesday’s on-air rant against Ava Evans. Asked on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme why Fox had not been sacked already, Frangopoulos said: “We have due process to follow”. But he said he expected an internal investigation to be “resolved very quickly”. * Dan Wootton has been sacked by MailOnline the day after he was suspended by GB News for his part in an on-air discussion with actor Laurence Fox about a female journalist. The TV anchor has been suspended from his lucrative MailOnline column since the summer over accusations he used the pseudonym “Martin Branning” to send sexually explicit messages to former colleagues. GB News declined to investigate these claims of inappropriate sexual behaviour against one of their star presenters, arguing they were alleged to have happened at a former employer. As a result Wootton continued presenting his primetime nightly show on GB News until this week, when he was suspended over his role in a discussion with Fox about the appearance of a female journalist. MailOnline has now ended Wootton’s contract, which was understood to give the journalist a six-figure salary in return for two columns a week. * Reducing women to meat live on air? GB News is no longer a jokeIt sounds at first like what Donald Trump once called “locker room banter”. Just two guys, unwittingly taped having the kind of conversation that women always secretly worry men might be having behind their backs; the one where it doesn’t matter how bright or confident you are, because if necessary they can still just reduce you to meat. “Who’d want to shag that?” rages Laurence Fox, the fading actor turned failed political candidate, of a young political reporter called Ava Evans whose views on men’s mental health (expressed on the BBC) had apparently displeased him. His mate Dan Wootton, who may be vaguely familiar to you from allegations of sexual harassment currently being investigated by a previous employer, chuckles before noting that poor Evans is actually “very beautiful”. So maybe she is shaggable, after all? There’s editorial balance for you.... Rest here... www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/sep/28/gb-news-women-populist-right-channel-ratings

Or is it just the wish to be seen as a martyr and then a quick Katy Hopkins style career path to the US where there are many lucrative jobs for British right wing ranters. Being a Reform party candidate won't gain you much dosh.
