^ How did it go with the statins LE? I was on BP meds for about 6 weeks after a series of high readings. The dr. also recommended statins. The dr. recently gave me the nod for coming off the meds as I got my BP and cholesterol under control with lifestyle changes including cutting out booze and salt, changing my diet, a rigorous exercise routine and yoga / meditation. It was hard work but I'd rather put off being on meds as long as possible. Well done on getting your levels down via lifestyle changes My diet and lifestyle couldn't be much better so reckon I just have a genetic predisposition to higher levels as a significant amount is non-dietary and made by the body Having been on the Statins for a few months now I can report there are no side effects (v rare anyway) and the cholesterol readings are now down in the "healthy" level Heart attacks are what killed most of the males on my father's side of the family so I pay attention to this stuff I'm very happy with the results and taking a statin every night is no hardship They are also v cheap so minimal strain on the NHS In terms of fitness and energy I've never felt better - nothing to do with statins though and all to do with running, dancing, diet, yoga, socialising, kicking booze, occasional saunas, being grateful etc etc

interesting to read how everyone reacts to old age and falling apart
if you can then eating well and staying fit and active has got to be the best way forward !

Heart attacks are what killed most of the males on my father's side of the family so I pay attention to this stuff Amen to that. My dad dropped dead from a heart attack at 58, so my 59th birthday was something of a relief.
