Another Cormac novel, one of the most gruesome things I’ve ever read and occasionally difficult to get through because of it. Anybody else?

His masterpiece, I loved the book. It's finally in production as a movie. Can't wait to see who plays The Judge, one of literature's great monsters.

His masterpiece, I loved the book. It's finally in production as a movie. Can't wait to see who plays The Judge, one of literature's great monsters. There’s several chapters in the middle here which seem simply to detail the gruesome, drunken debauchery they undertake, it’s been challenging. The narrative picks up around C19 Edit: isn’t it pretty ridiculous how these characters seem to keep running into each other in the vast, hostile wasteland they occupy?

Only read The Road and No Country. Both v good Masterpiece you say Doug? I would say so, Haven't read "No Country" but read a few others, "The Road" is great but a short book, this is a great read, highly nihilistic and without giving any kind of moral judgement as to the right or wrong of the violence involved, that can be troublesome for some who like a good/bad duality where violence becomes justified as it's for a kind of greater good (think Lee Child's generic story template where violence is always okay as the good guy does it and it's almost comical in it's ridiculousness). Here you just have a time and place where violence was entirely casual and unpunished. It's a must read, and the Judge really is a character that looms long in the memory.

Just read Child Of God, Christ, that is one sick puppy of a book, "Lester Ballard" (just a child of God) is another Cormac character not easily forgotten.
