It really is making football rubbish. Tonight's England game: Nearly 4 minutes to adjudicate that Lewis had given away a penalty, it wasn't, just two players jumping for the ball. Three minutes to rule Grealish was offside, blatantly obvious with even a cursory glance.
I am enjoying Championship, Divs 1&2 and the National League far more than Premier and Internationals. The standard is lower admittedly but without this technical malarkey stoppages the game flows and referee decisions are made. instantly.
What's the answer?

Maybe it should be more cursory to alleviate the time issue? There’s been times where there’s been a clear penalty on the pitch and VAR has been hesitant to rule against the ref, odd

What's the answer?
Get rid
Accept human error on the pitch
Use technology for things that cannot be dispute - ball going over the line, out of play etc

Can't say it affects me that much, has ruined the Premier League but that's usually pretty dull to watch anyway, I prefer more physical football which has been largely banished from the top flight. Too many wailing prima donnas clutching their faces every time someone brushes past them. I'd like to see a greater separation between the Prem and the Championship, the present system of parachute payments utterly skews the Championship and massive gambling is rewarded. I'd be quite happy for the Championship to have no promotion and exist as a Div 1 in a 4 Division old school League including the National League as Div 4. Let the Premiership destroy themselves with greed, VAR and arrogance.

A radical idea doug
Wonder how club owners would react
I agree though that the Champ in its current state is unsustainable and owners are incentivised to gamble heavily on reaching the riches of the Prem

So watched the Barnet Oldham game last night. Two stonewall penalties that the ref gave immediately, one 'trip' he correctly waived away. The linesman not afraid to put his flag up straightaway when an attacker had strayed offside. Maybe the Barnet goalkeeper should have had a straight red but a minor quibble.Game flowed and though not high standard, a very enjoyable watch. It is always indicative of a good match, when you barely notice the match officials
If VAR had been involved something like ten minutes would have been added and spoilt the spectacle. I have never been to a live VAR match, so whereas I'm getting frustrated at home watching it on the box even with the commentator trying to explain what's going on, the fans in the ground must be completely confused.

A radical idea doug Wonder how club owners would react I agree though that the Champ in its current state is unsustainable and owners are incentivised to gamble heavily on reaching the riches of the Prem In a few years, the EPL clubs will all be foreign owned by faceless "wealth funds" and with a 90% foreign playing staff. Something must be done to protect the grass roots British game. If you remove the top flight and remove the possibility of joining it then you could probably install firm controls on spending, wages and other aspects that have been eroded by financial interests at the expense of the game.

Never been to a VAR game either, and frankly never would, all the spontaneity has been removed, both on the pitch and in the stands, without that you may as well watch on TV. Find a free Saudi stream and laugh at how gullible the Premier League is.

I have had a ST at BHAFC for 8 years now and can confirm the game has been diminished by VAR
I preferred the Championship but, on the other hand, I cannot deny I still look forward to the games and usually thoroughly enjoy the experience for all those things that I would change if I could

The gap is getting so big between the EPL and the Championship, given you have more points than all 3 promoted sides put together and you haven't won a game in weeks, that I see a time when it will be almost impossible for promoted teams to stay up anyway which would create a de facto closed League with promoted teams unwilling to spend any money. Last years 3 up will be this years 3 down and I see that becoming the norm at which point my vision of a new Football League will become much more likely.
