Best Mitski - The Land Is Inhospitable... Life affirming album, full of light and shade. Others Lucinda Williams - RocknRoll Heart After years of introspection, Ms Williams comes back with a real Americana country rocker. Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds Forget the hype, it is a damn good album. Lisa O'Neill - All Of This Is Chance Either you like her voice or you don't, best album for relaxation ever? That Lucinda Williams album is very enjoyable It's sophisticated country rock has gradually inveigled its way into my heart What should the LW newbie be sampling Guessing she has a long and illustrious discography

There's Lucinda 'country rock' and Lucinda 'country maudlin'. The latter is around the time of her stroke and very introspective as she looks at life rather bleakly. For a newbie I recommend her debut album which outdrinks and outfights Steve Earle. The most solid one (which won allsorts of awards) is Car Wheels On A Gravel Road, rocks and weeps in equal measure.
