I've been digging Seu Jorge over the seasonal period
Probably best known in Europe for the Bowie covers that featured in The Life Aquatic film
He's flipping great if you like that Latin/Samba vibe
So, with that in mind, anyone got any top Brazilian tips?
Any genre

Os Mutantes would have been my top tip.
Gal Costa's early albums (especially her second) are also very psychedelic.
Depois Do Fim by Bacamarte, from 1983, is an outstanding prog album – not grandiose at all, but heavily rooted in Brazilian music traditions and with nimble, jazzy playing. However, steer clear of singer Jane Duboc's solo albums: I was silly enough to buy a few of them and she turned out to be a sort of Brazilian Elaine Paige.
Brazil also has an excellent modern prog scene, with my favourite bands including Quarterna Réquiem and Semente.

Can see why Rod Stewart thought this would make a good pop song - must have cost quite a bit to settle after D'Ya Think I'm Sexy went on to be a global smash
This is a total banger
Jorge Ben - Taj Mahal

Can see why Rod Stewart thought this would make a good pop song - must have cost quite a bit to settle after D'Ya Think I'm Sexy went on to be a global smash Great outcome mind.... The settlement was reached out of court, and apparently all the royalties eventually made their way as a donation to UNICEF, on behalf of Ben and Stewart. Ben would become one of the biggest stars in the “world music” scene, and Stewart would continue being Rod Stewart.
From where I’m sitting, there are a couple morals of this story: First, don’t write songs in the studio, particularly after spending time wasted with Elton John and Freddie Mercury. And second: “Taj Mahal” rules. The Time Rod Stewart Accidentally Stole A Jorge Ben Song On A Case Of Partying In Brazil And Writing A Melody... www.vinylmeplease.com/blogs/magazine/jorge-ben-taj-mahal-rod-stewart

My ongoing obsession with Brazilian music has taken me back to David Byrne’s Rei Momo, which is, as you know, a thing of wandering beauty
Also Tropicalia is the gift that keeps on giving
