Finally got my mitts on a copy of this, the fifth... and, with the tragic death of John Kezdy, i assume the final full length album by these Chicago legends. And what a mighty fine record it is for them to bow out on too. Production wise, it's back to the sound they got on For Ever Grounded and their classic early e.p.'s... and 'That' guitar tone is back.
A more aggressive, pissed off sound than on their previous album from 2007. I can never quite decide if The Effigies or Naked Raygun are my all time favourite band from the Windy City, but this album might just tip the balance. π₯πΈπ₯π€π₯

As well as some blistering full tilt Punk songs, they have the total class to slow it down, into something darker and more brooding

...oh, i always listen to the best The Effigies are something of an over looked band here. You are never going to see an article on them in the Guardian A cult band in the USA though and if you turn to page 219 of the American Hardcore book by Stephen Blush, you get something of a flavour of what they were/are all about, albiet through his viewpoint.

Although associated with Punk and Hardcore, The Effigies were not afraid to dabble with Funk too
Love this... it's got a groove, but is dark and eerie too...

Even on one of their lesser albums there are gems to be savoured...
