A wonderful band. I first heard/saw them when they appeared on The Old Grey Whistle Test in 1979. I went out and bought their album the next day and have collected everything they have done since, including records only released in Japan.
They put some ACE songs on their B-sides too...

Their guitarist Neil Thompson, hosts a really good Carpettes Facebook page with loads of great items from his archive. This 'banger' brings back alot of good memories of my Tech College days...

I saw them twice, when they reformed in the 90s (Blackpool and Morcambe)
I keep in contact with Guitarist Neil Thompson on Facebook, but not sure what George is upto these days.

...YUP, as requested, i gave Blitzy a big hug from you L.E. Here's a quick blog... BLEACH BOYS/THE PRIVATE DICKS/THE CARPETTES @ The Hope & Anchor London 25/3/2023 It felt good to get away from the Aquae Sulis City for the weekend and head upto London for this fabulous gig. I have been going to gigs in the Capitol for nearly 40 years, but never been to the legendary Hope & Anchor before. One of the last few remaining original small music venues, where so many bands i love have played. I liked it alot. A proper London Pub. A really good vibe to the place, in the main bar and in the basement where the bands play. Met loads of friends there, either local, playing that night, or who like me had travelled. The Bleach Boys play fast and furious pure 77' Pogo Punk... i think only the guitar player and drummer were original members though. Private Dicks are more melodic mid-tempo Power Pop, with some very tasty guitarwork from Paul Guiver. The Carpettes are a great Power Trio (sadly minus original bass player George Maddison) fronted by guitarist Neil Thompson who was in fine and distinctive voice. They blasted thru their set, at times with Ramones intensity... but paced themselves well by also having their old drummer Tim Wilder do a guest spot for Punky/Reggae song 'False Foundations' to slow things down. I ended up drinking late there so Sunday and getting home was a bit of a struggle . Didn't bother taking too many pics as i was there to enjoy the music and the occasion. ๐ค๐
