And let's not forget the Exploited were a bunch of unpleasant individuals as well. Documented on the old forum by one of our Dutch contributors, Big John Duncan headbutted a soundman 'cos he couldn't hear his stage monitor. Cunt.

Theres no doubt that the Exploited were complete bellends. However, no less so than the likes of John Lydon, Peter Hook Jah Wobble etc

At the time it seemed the game was well and truly up Yup. My punk rock journey began with the Pistols and ended with the Exploited First time round mine began with the Pistols (76) and ended with Sham (78) From there I went back to Bowie and then, quickly, straight into London nightlife having applied obligatory theatrical rouge Subsequently I've made numerous journeys back to pick up on stuff I missed out on first time round. Now I spend as much time looking back as investigating moderne musique

I'm not going there Rogue Well so some are lesser arseholes because you like their music? *Sigh* I don't agree with your characterisation of Wobble For more discussion, reread the Wobble thread where we were just repeating ourselves. I think he's tolerant and open minded. You have a different perspective. I get that. There is no point rehashing the discussion again. We've both expresssed our viewpoints. No one else contributed probably coz, like me (and probably you), they were bored senseless, and don't have any strong feelings on the subject. Peter Hook is probably a bit of an arse but seems to have some redeeming features too. I don't think I'd want to get stuck in a lift with him but, having read all his books, I think he's developed a bit of self insight and humility and is probably on the right side of the arsehole divide. Just. Then again I might be wrong. I don't really care. John Lydon is now, and has been for quite some time, a cartoon and a walking self parody. Every now and again flashes of the Johnny we all fell in love with come through. I can forgive him a lot of his arsehole tendencies because of his massive influence.
I like a lot of his music too. Same as Hook. Same as Wobble. As you suggest, perhaps that makes me less critical of each of their shortcomings?
We've all done things we're not proud of. Let s/he who is without sin cast the first stone etc etc If anything is going to bring out your inner arsehole it's probably getting some kind of public acclaim and believing your own press I am bored just typing this up and it really is my last word on the subject because I want to talk about music not personalities

Theres nothing worse than people who are sycophantic about their musical heroes to it degree it blinds them to the reality of what they say and do.
Take off your blinkers and you will see the truth.😡
