I draw the line at that, particularly the Eagles. 'Turn up The Eagles, the neighbours are listening', best put down ever of a rival act in a song IMO. Skynrd vs Neil was a runner-up in 'Sweet Home Alabama', obviously.

Seriously, Little Feat opens that compilation? American, cheese cloth shirt boogie. Got absolutely no relation to any of the tracks that follow.

Not convinced, seems a very scattershot grab bag. Was a strange time with the UK charts pretty much Glam/novelty stuff while America went down the road to hell with soft country style AOR/MOR shite. Pub Rock always gets"bigged up" as so important but let's be honest, most of it was bloody terrible, plodding covers or bad attempts at American country music. It was in the pubs for a very good reason, you had to be pissed to appreciate it. For every Feelgood there were 100 dreadful outfits doing the rounds. Maybe these "curated" albums have been done to death. Start an album with Little Feat and I'm out the room before the 5 second mark.

Little Feat? wtf?? Why not throw in Skynrd and Creedence for good measure? I’m not v clued up on any of those three Little Feat baffle me. Plain boring I can see the appeal of Skynrd if you like that kind of thing Credence on the other hand have plenty of great tunes. Gonna have to start a separate thread

I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd's last show in the UK before that aircrash that killed several of them. Not quite my thing but the 15 minute guitar extravaganza of Free Bird at the end of the show was brilliant and something I'll always remember.

I recall this being something of a fallow period for cool music, falling as it did between the decline of glam and the punk rock explosion, albeit with some notable exceptions, like Cockney Rebel, who seemed to appeal to both the cork sniffers and the more laddish elements This is of course the received wisdom that is now treated as gospel but there was still a ridiculous amount of great stuff around Checkout some of the big hit singles just from 1974... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UK_top-ten_singles_in_1974

As i have already mentioned on this thread, during that timeframe (1974 - 1976) i was 'BIG' on the two Kraftwerk albums, Autobahn & Radio Activity. Everytime i hear this, i am thirteen again
