Conflict were always going to outgrow the Crass label.

Back to good old fashioned punk rock😎

Most of Increase The Pressure is pretty good. But it's the only Conflict record I own

Never knowingly heard Conflict

For about 10 seconds I thought Increase The Pressure sounded great until the "Never Mind the Bullshit...here's the facts!" bit and then it went downhill

I flicked through the other tunes - second one sounded okay

Third one is borderline unlistenable

Fourth one is a bit better

5th one (see above) - the news samples make it a bit more interesting

At the risk of sounding like yer mum, why do so many of these 80s punk groups "sing" at 100 mph in the same ranty way? Was their some kind of rule that you couldn't deviate from the template? If they're making political points wouldn't it be more effective if the lyrics were clear and the songs were more accessible?

By the by, I notice that their Mortarhate label put out something by Hagar The Womb. I'm friends with the Hags and, consequently, have seen them a couple of times recently.

I also accept your accusation of narrow mindedness and ignorance. It's true. I just cannot be arsed to do a deep dive into Conflict, & cannot imagine having a sudden realistation that Conflict are wonderful and they are now my new favourite group. Perhaps if I listened to them for a couple of days I might find something to cherish. Feels unlikely though.

Just as you are unlikely to suddenly decide to play, for example, New Order's wonderful 1989 LP Technique from start to finish three or four times - and then realise that you really love classics like Guilty Partner, Round & Round, or Mr Disco

To my ears Guilty Partner makes Conflict seem like a bunch of untalented amateurs messing around - but I very much doubt you hear it that way
