PJ Harvey at Glasgow Concert Hall in 2011 after 'Let England Shake'was released.
She was absolutely sensational as were her collaborators.
I was the last person to take my seat before the show began after scoffing a triple whisky at the bar.
The audience must have been eager as I got a round of applause for this😎

Magazine was one of (probably the first of the 'new wave') the earliest gigs I went to, back in '78 at the Huddersfield Poly. Still stands out as being a fantastic performance by the band, probably touring their debut "Real Life" elpee at that time. Surprised recently to find footage of the Pixies at Glastonbury from '89. Was there in the crowd watching almost from the same area as the camera filming their set.. Here we go:

Fugazi at the Barrowlands in 91/92.
They literally blew everyone away.
Supported by Chumbawamba who did a dance set, it was a sensational night

MY best gig was Joy Division and Killing Joke at The Lyceum, but I didn't realise at the time how important it was....

Nirvana at Reading Festival 1991. They were on stage mid-afternoon on the first day, criminally low on the bill. (They would come back as headliners the following year. I think this was the last UK festival I went to, before I started working overseas full time, as I recall..). There was a buzz about Nirvana already though. Sounds, the long-defunct UK music paper had championed them for a while, and "Nevermind" was already recorded on a major label, in the can and set for release not long after this gig. Their set was a bit plagued by continual feedback and other sound problems, but couldn't spoil a performance of a band that were maybe at their peak, as yet un-bothered and not distracted by a level of fame that corroded and dissolved Kurt Cobain a few short years later. They were powered along by a young Dave Grohl absolutely hammering his drums, like a John Bonham on speed. It's a performance of a band on the cusp at this stage, the last performance of unknown Nirvana playing their biggest concert thus far. Amazing that a 3-piece band generated this much power.

Test. Ah...it worked. Failed a few times. Never was a huge fan and no real reason. The early stuff was right up my alley. No denying this line-up sounds freaking powerful.

Dangerous thread to say "post your fave shows," there are just too many. This is a great live studio performance with some Q&A. There was a high quality live show on youtube but I couldn't find it. The MC50! youtu.be/Pyz4V5X0dJkI don't know why I couldn't embed it this time.

Discharge on the Apocalypse tour in 1981.
Just at the height of their epoch with'Why'.
Conflict playing the east end of Glasgow in early 84.
The 'troops' came out but Conflict weren't having it

I never really warmed to Conflict but should have been seeing them play with Rubella Ballet last night, but for obvious reasons...
Did you ever take photo's at gigs back then? I used to and have quite a few of the local scene (Bristol) from 82/83 and some from gigs I hitched to in London. Happy days.

^ If I didn't know I would think that was a heavy metal group Bassy. Very riffy innit? I know a few of us were at Iggy and his Stooges performing Raw Power in Hammersmith - what a night... Iggy & The Stooges - Raw Power / Search And Destroy live @ Hammersmith Apollo, LondonYep, I was also at that one, great evening. I also had a good month in 1996, seeing the Pistols at Finsbury Park, Nick Caves' "Murder Ballads" tour at Brixton and the reformed Velvet Underground in Kentish Town all within about 3 weeks of each other.
