Having played Sweet quite a bit following Steve Priest's sad death I was wondering whether anyone else had a run of four singles as downright thrilling and kinetic as...
Blockbuster Hell Raiser Ballroom Blitz Teenage Rampage
Possibly the Pistols first four singles?
Any other contenders?
And more generally let's talk all things Sweet
Any deep cuts that you love?
Or other less obvious tunes?

After those four rockers was the light and heavy Six Teens, one of my favourites. Chart wise after that it went a bit quiet but they roared back with Love Is Like Oxygen.
Patchy albums maybe, though Desolation Boulevard has a special place in my heart. The track Medusa is psychedelic Uriah Heep gonzo nonsense, brilliant!

More generally, if you never watched the "Scene: All That Glitters" documentary you need to put that right
Hell, even if you have, it's worth a rewatch....

In an alternate universe (and maybe with a beefier arrangement) this early ChinniChap effort could have been a hit...
Chop Chop
Give it two or three plays and you'll be singing it all day

Just occasionally I get a MFP record in that is a split between them and a novelty group called the Pipkins (Gimme Dat Ding). Later reissues has The Sweet in all their glam regalia on the front cover. Incredibly misleading as it is some of the worst, vapid pop going. An inauspicious start, I'm pretty sure Deep Purple didnt have any skeletons like this in their closet.

Chinn and Chapman occasionally let them do a self-penned flip side
This one (on the flip side of 'Block Buster' reveals a harder rockin side to the group

This is f**king AMAZING! a personal fave by them, released in 1975, not a big hit here, but they were way more popular in mainland Europe by then. A Proto-Punk classic about the music biz...

A Proto-Punk classic about the music biz... I love it Andy Absolute classic Weirdly, or maybe not, I have as much love for bubblegum like Funny Funny or Poppa Joe, as I do for Action, Six Teens, Teenage Rampage etc

I also like The Sweet, a band who could have been so much more had they not got into bed with "chinn/chapman". Had the potential to be a great rock outfit and Mick Tucker was an astonishingly good drummer. I still give the "Desolation Boulevard" vinyl a spin occasionally. Oh yes. A lot of love for Sweet round these parts. I know what you mean about Chinnichap but some of their Sweet songs were iconic Impossible not to love... The Ballroom Blitz

This is as good as 90% of hard rock. And it surely is hard rock?

This is as good as 90% of hard rock. And it surely is hard rock? If it's hard rock, it's my kind of hard rock That run of 73/74 singles Blockbuster! Hell Raiser The Ballroom Blitz Teenage Rampage is as good as any I can think of After Teenage Rampage it was The Six Teens which is pretty good too Andy Scott reckons The Six Teens was Chinn and Chapman's best song for the group The Six Teens
