Andy Gill, guitarist and leader of the Gang Of Four, has died.
It was a shock to me a few years ago when musicians of the psychedelic and progressive rock era (essentially, those born between about 1938 and 1951) started dying.
Now the Grim Reaper has started on those of the post and postpunk era (essentially, those born between about 1951 and 1959).

Yes, sad news
I really like Gang of Four and Andy Gill's guitar sound was a big part of that
I've seen them a few times over the years and they were always an intense and enjoyable experience, less so when Jon King moved on
Remember him/them this way...

He influenced so many, particularly US later wavers like REM, Nirvana and even Red Hot Chilli Peppers. RIP

Yes, very influential - and also Gill was sought after as a producer

RIP Andy
Just after we had hidden all the old Hendrix albums at the back of the cupboard, he made feedback fashionable again.
