Quine was superb, I always loved Richard Lloyd too, and all that New York "angular" guitar sound. Quine of course played a lot with Lou Reed. Verlaine was good in his day too. A bit like Hell, made a strong start but didn't do much afterwards. They were right at the forefront of the New Wave but it washed over them. confusing term "new wave" in some ways, the US music biz wouldn't use the term "punk" at the time apparently due to it's US prison connotation so called the UK scene and all similar music as "New Wave" whereas we tend to refer to the poppier chart friendly fare that followed as New Wave, and meanwhile you have "powerpop" which is similar to much of the UK New wave but only guitar driven, verse, chorus, middle 8 rinse and repeat stuff.

I've ordered his autobiography, anyone read it? If that's the one, something about a tramp in the title, I got it from my library when it came out but don't think I finished it. Must have got bored, I have a vague recollection of it being a bit pretentious. Could be thinking about something else entirely though.
