Is that song typical Zeo?
It's quite Radio 2 in the 1980s innit?
Inoffensive, but more than a little bland
Or am I missing something?

Is that song typical Zeo? Only in that it's down tempo, atmospheric and understated

Nice accoustic sound
Pleasant and inoffensive
Another one for late night Radio 2 c1988
If I want something so downtempo I'd incline more towards something less anodyne
Perhaps Tom Waits, maybe a bit of Neil Young? Maybe Bill Callaghan or Bonnie Prince Billy?

Buchanan is up there with Hollis and Scott Walker as one of the great expressive white singers Much as I love Hollis, I would hesitate to put him in the same league as Scott Walker As for Buchanan, I can't say I'm hearing whatever it is you hear. Proficient but undistinguished to my sensibility. Where do Rod and Stevie Marriott feature in the great expressive white singers pantheon?

Never cared much for Rod, one dimensional shouter. Marriott's up there. Great soul shouter and he can do mellow too* Great vocalists are all about nuance IMO. * eg...

I think Rod's got more range and subtlety than your comments suggest
Marriott had the lot
Steve Winwood was no slouch either

No love for early solo Rod. Every Picture Tells A Story, Gasoline Alley etc.
You're hard to please Zeo unless, of course, it's superslick sounds like Blue Nile and Steely Dan
