Underrated group who never fulfilled their potential
Raven is very young in this clip

The Neon Hearts reformed about 6 years ago to tour Japan... the Japanese have a deep love of early and lesser known first wave UK/US Punk and Powerpop. They released an CD e.p. when they reformed. ..and here they are playing live in Japan to young kids having a great time...

Gotta love the fanaticism of the Japanese Was reading an interview with Duncan Reid in Vive Le Rock earlier and, not suprisingly, his Big Heads are very popular in Japan, and he loves playing there

They were a bit different from the usual punk groups, but weren't lacking in energy

There's another new group going around called the Sex Pistols. Have you heard of them? Their singer is pretty shocking.

This is the first time I've heard Neon Hearts, though I'd heard of them due to Raven joining Killing Joke.
Quite interesting. Like the sax. Of the songs posted, I like "Venus Eccentric" the most.

Their sax player was previously in the Suburban Studs, who kicked him out cos they thought sax wasn't a 'punk' instrument

Regulations was seriously good hardcore 1977 punk despite the sax. Really good tight stuff and a unique sound. This song was a double A side along with the equally excellent 'Venus Eccentric'. It sold over 6000 copies whch was good for a local band. I knew them well as they were from my home town Wolverhampton. After this superb single they went pop-punk and signed to Satril Records. I never really liked this new sound, though there are one or two really good tracks from their debut LP especially teh quite superb 'Pretty As a Picture', also Answers, Pin Cushion, Number One Fan. When they split up, Tone Dial went all New Romantic with his band Silhouette Theatre, whilst the guitarist and drummer went to local mod band The Circles, but Raven went to Killing Joke. As stated they are popular in Japan now. That first single was a top punk record, as anyone who listens to it on youtube will confirm.

I'm a big fan of Venus Eccentric and was playing it earlier today We discussed The Circles somewhere else, can't remember where now and it didn't come up on a search This is a good single... The Circles - Circles Never heard of Silhouette Theatre though. Did they release anything?
