S.C. Gwynne's historical account of the Comanche Indian tribe v European settlers in the 19th Century. From the blurb: Pretty visceral stuff, tbh. The Comanches had previously stopped French and Spanish invaders literally in their tracks with their organization, war tactics and brilliant horsemanship and weaponry skills. Not to mention the horrific mutilations and tortures inflicted on the enemy. Even other Indian tribes were terrified of the Comanche, who perpetrated warfare of this kind throughout the plains. Compelling reading, but needs a strong stomach.

Sounds fascinating - thanks
S. C. Gwynne’s account of these events is meticulously researched, intellectually provocative, and, above all, thrillingly told.
