A video featuring Eric Cantona is a good reason to start a thread about LG
Pretty standard sub Beatles fare from LG but people lap it up don't they?
It's okay
I've always loved his voice so it's perfectly acceptable to me
Vid must have cost a few bob eh?

Probably better than what Noel has been putting out recently, all things considered.

Yes. Noel seems to be trying more original and innovative material which is not what his fans want

Always thought Noel's attempts at 'stoner' rock were not that bad. Well, I've always enjoyed them even though he comes across as a complete bellend.

There's a lot of revisionist hate for Oasis and the Gallaghers which few if any expressed at the time.
I thought they were great when they first emerged, and up until that third album when the cocaine got the better of any judgement they had. After that it was just diminishing returns.
I'm also happy to admit to loving a lot of that Britpop stuff when it was happening e.g. Supergrass, Pulp, Suede, Blur, Elastica
Rarely listen to it now mind but I'm sure I'd still enjoy it. Might give some a try later.

The first 2 Oasis albums are great and theres some good songs on some of the other albums too especially 'Standing on the Shoulder of Giants'.
I mean who cares if the Gallaghers are a pair of numpties.
I mean look at John Lydon.....

There's a lot of revisionist hate for Oasis and the Gallaghers which few if any expressed at the time. I seem to remember expressing my opinion of them pretty clearly at the time. I thought – and still think – that they're the most average band ever to have become superstars. Not necessarily the worst, but the most average: they're the kind of thing I'd expect to see if my local boozer held a "rock night" and charged a quid for admission. Oasis saw themselves as carrying the baton of the La's, but Lee Mavers is what Noel Gallagher would be if he had a high IQ and the ability to write great songs.

I wouldn't bother with either of them if they were playing in my back garden.
However, I do like the idea of this video. I'd be interested in knowing what those who aren't familiar with the Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club make of it.

Gotta say I quite liked Oasis when they first broke through
The first album was particularly good - as was that early comp The Masterplan
Dunno how anyone can fail to appreciate the glory of Live Forever, Champagne Supernova, Cigarettes and Alcohol etc
They stuck around far too long and that cocaine album they did at their peak is borderline unlistenable
Back to my earlier question, having now heard the new LG album, I'm saying ‘C’mon You Know’ is pretty good. He seems to surround himself with competent songwriters etc and the results, whilst pretty inessential, are very enjoyable
NME sez this (which seems to sum up it's +s and -s quite neatly...
His 2017 debut solo album, ‘As You Were’, had a clear task: to establish his epic comeback. Album two, 2019’s ‘Why Me? Why Not.’, was the glorious victory lap, the second pint that deepened the pleasure of the first. This third record is the sound of Liam with little to prove; it’s loose and relaxed, as evidenced by the Macca-style ad-libbed backing vocals of woozy closer ‘Oh Sweet Children’. And you don’t sing a lyric like “I had a girl, she gave me hell / In a flat in Camberwell”, as he does on the buzzing ‘Don’t Go Halfway’, unless you’re having a laugh.
At once experimental and familiar enough to keep his stunning second act on course, ‘C’mon You Know’ finds Liam Gallagher having his cake and eating it – and there’s plenty to go round at this party. If he doesn’t overthink it, why should you? Turn off your mind, relax and bring the cans.

I'm a long way from being much of a fan but thought I'd post to provide an alternative perspective

Isn't it just the usual rock 'n' roll band story? 1 great rocking debut album, mellower radio friendly second album aimed at a wider (meaning US) audience, then the law of ever diminishing returns churning out the same tired template until the public has had enough. They were just perfect tabloid fodder with warring brothers and a feud with Blur and all during the Blair "cool Britannia" period, that sort of publicity meant they couldn't fail. Gimme Luke Haines any day of the week.

Noel is immeasurably smug. Liam is coasting.
Both should retire. Obviously nowhere near Manchester which they moved from as soon as they achieved any kind of success.
Stand By Me is the dreariest sack of shit ever put to vinyl. Don't Look Back In Anger not far from behind. Cringeworthy dad rock with embarrassing lyrics. Noel takes Bono's son's band out on tour with him. Tosspot.

There probably wouldn't have been a need for punk either.

Isn't Liam's new single called 'Moscow Rules'?
I suppose it 's quite a controversial title which will offend all the pro-Ukrainians in the UK who probably didn't even know where Ukraine was 3 or so months ago.
