Thanks Stu Although I know little about him, I've always thought Rob Halford of Judas Priest is probably an interesting character So many podcasts, so little time I'll try and make room for this one too

Halford saw the Pistols in Wolverhampton on the SPOTS tour. A couple of weeks after playing in front of 80,000 in Oakland supporting Zeppelin.

I'm not a big fan of his band's music but he always comes across as a thoughtful, interesting bloke in interviews.
He also showed courage in (eventually) "coming out", which is a potential career killer in the retarded, macho world of Heavy Metal. Good on him.

To be honest at the time he 'looked'pretty gay as stereotypes go.
As Bassy says well done for 'coming out'.

I never knew Judas Priest were so big in America. There is a lot about his sex life in the book , or rather his lack of one . Not wanting to be outed when they were selling millions of albums and tickets.
So far he's hardly referenced the ex drummer Dave Holland , who was outed as a paedo a few years ago.

I had a listen to that Stu
Rob seems like a geniunely likeable person - and he's certainly got a few tales to tell
People from the midlands who hit big often seen to retain a degree of humility and normality (e.g. Ozzy, Noddy, Robert Plant)

I actually preferred the K K Downing one as an actual music biography.

I got a signed copy of this with a metal collection I bought off another dealer. I thought I'd skim through it whilst quiet in the shop but now I'm hooked. He deals with his early years in the black country, vivid description of the air pollution and his earliest recollection of knowing that he was gay. Unputdownable.

Strange that I can barely get past two of their songs yet this is a wonderful read.
