Must be me, but I fucking loathe Ferry and the band. Pretentious nonsense from a warbling social climbing warbler of a man. Always hear the myth of "all punks were listening to Roxy" before punk happened, well none I knew were, maybe the "fashionista" punks were, but certainly not around my way.
Also an utter disgrace as a human being with his fox hunting mentality and his "leader of the hounds" sons. He even sacked Eno because fans started calling his name rather than Ferry's at gigs which says everything you need to know about him.
Bloody hell, Nick Drake and now Roxy, I'll be tarred and feathered next.

Pretentious nonsense from a warbling social climbing warbler of a man. Ferry, for all his ideological shortcomings, is an effective frontman and vocal stylist. Eno and Manzanera were ahead of the curve, too. 'Virginia Plain' on TOTP was life-changing for me, like 'Starman' the previous month. Most of the punx I knew at the beginning liked Roxy, David and Marc. |
