How much did you like the Mondays back in the day?
Gotta say I loved them
I saw an early gig in Brighton just after the second album (Bummed). I remember it as brilliant. It's on YouTube and the recording suggests I was high on life, or something, as it doesn't seem quite so good as I'd remembered it...

Both excellent groups. This one evokes memories of a particularly fun period

Don't know much Black Grape but I liked their England's Irie song with Strummer.
This is probably my favourite Mondays song
Or maybe this

Shaun Ryder’s forthcoming solo album, Visits From Future Technology is due out in August. Apparently it's a kaleidoscopic mix of dub, disco, reggae, sleazy ‘70s rock and Ryder’s wordplay Shaun Ryder - Mumbo Jumbo‘Visits From Future Technology’ tracklist: 1. ‘mumbo jumbo’ 2. ‘close the dam’ 3. ‘pop stars daughters’ 4. ‘monster’ 5. ‘honey put the kettle on’ 6. ‘crazy bitches’ 7. ‘straighten me up’ 8. ‘i can stop anytime’ 9. ‘electric scales’ 10. ‘turn off the air’ 11. ‘clubbing rabbits’

Same as the Roses, one decent album then fast downhill.

Same as the Roses, one decent album then fast downhill. What is the one decent album doug61 ? Squirel and G Man ? Bummed ? Pills n Thrills ? I loved all of those. Plus the Black Grape album. Black Grape also put out an album last year or maybe 2019 which was good too. Cop a listen

Pills was great but then so was Bummed in a different way. First one was pretty good too. You could tell they had something even on that one.
Ryder was a really street poet back then. Can still turn it on sometimes despite the self abuse.

Now playing....Black Grape's Pop Voodoo album. Pretty good. I really like that album Stu ^^^^^° I got it today , I'd never heard it before. I also ordered Shaun Ryder's first solo album. Not heard that or the one that came out last year, have you?? Interestingly Shaun doesn't rate it... He’s not too fond of 2003’s Amateur Night In The Big Top (“When I did that I was that fucked,” he says, with endearing candour), but then it seems nobody else was either (sample review: “It’s horrible, voyeuristic listening.” The Guardian). For that reason, he thinks of Visits From Future Technology (2021) as his real debut album. From:
Has anyone heard Visits From Future Technology (2021)?
Any good?
I remember hearing Mumbo Jumbo and liking it

I've had it on heavy rotation - lots to enjoy, a bit like that last Black Grape LP
I rate it
