Hipster? From the hardened council estates of Notts. I put them on in their early years and though I got on well with them, Jason Williamson is one of the few you wouldn't want to fuck with.

Not your cup of tea then Zeo? I only like music that has value

Hard to measure musical value though innit?
Does that mean bubblegum pop too low in value? Bach chock full of value?
I tend to like a joyous racket, and vapid pop songs preferably with crunchy beats
Snarky, obtuse lyrics by people who can't sing but whose voice I like also very welcome

That's a truly execrable list (poss exception of ZZ Top - no great fan but they had their moments)
You really don't like Sleaford Mods do you Zeo
I expect there's a course you can go on

Yeah, maybe so. Although they're having a war of words about IDLES who they accuse of being middle class. Doesn't reflect well on them, but what the heck?
All I can say, having seen them twice, they're blisteringly good live. Considering it's two people, one pushing a button on a laptop and then nodding his head and drinking beer, whilst the other jerks about ranting it's mesmerising to watch.
Bit like The Fall, sometimes passion trumps competence I suppose
Just like we do....

It could easily tip over into some pissed up bloke ranting at passers by in a bus station but the vehemence against Phillip Green, Cameron, Boris etc justifies it all.
We put them on not long after the duo got together properly, 2014 I think. They cost next to nowt (wonder how much they command now?).
They were technically naive and Andy Fearn's lead from his laptop to our PA was a cheap unshielded Argos type thing. At the soundcheck it was acting as an antenna and picking up messages from the taxi firm next door to the venue. We had to feed the lead through a length of copper pipe to stop the problem.

It was a great night. To paraphrase that Stewart Lee quote. 'Was the music good?' 'Not really but I agreed the fuck out of it'.
They gave me a couple of copies of Austerity Dogs and D&E for my shop. I downloaded them and play them occasionally. Apart from that TCR ep, I've not bought anything else myself.
Apparently, their recent gigs have been attracting some dickheads and a few fights have occurred.
