i have been buying Vive Le Rock from when it began, it's a healthy mixture of new bands and well established legends from Marc Almond to CRASS There some really good writers that contribute... Kris Needs for example. I have read some people in 'Punk Circles' poo poo it... but if you don't like it, don't buy it

Even the mighty TREMELOES dabbled in Glam, here is a sing-along stomper! The Tremeloes "Ride On" is great Andy I love these unlikely hybrid glam tunes A bit of boogie woogie, a bit of Beach Boys harmonies, and that basic Glam platform stomp Get yer cycle and ride on ride on You better be gone

..."The Trems" released a couple of Glam Stompers around this time. None were UK hits, but probably did OK in Europe.
Here is another gloriously bonkers Junk Shop Glam fave, that my buddie Tim PURR played me. Managed to find a copy thanks to him, when we were up in London last year. Nigel Fletcher, Rob Woodward from Lieutenant Pigeon were the creators of this nugget...

Several pundits in that list have not airbrushed Gary Glitter from history then. Does he still turn up on standard seventies glam compilations?

Certainly not the recent box sets that have come out. I still love Rock n Roll Pt 2 and can separate the crimes from the music maker. The sound was more Mike Leander anyway.

Does he still turn up on standard seventies glam compilations? ...it tends to be people from other countries, e.g. Lorenzo in Italy that don't omit Gary Glitter songs from lists like this. But i have heard Rock'n'Roll Part Two played by DJ's at gigs in London... which i don't have any problem with myself. Only one person involved in the making of that record is a criminal. It's unfair to tarnish all the other innocent people involved in the making of that record with the same brush.

The Nightingales encored with Leader of the Gang at one of our Scarborough gigs many moons back. The crowd thought it was a hoot, nobody took umbrage as far as I can recall.
