Choca full of good tunes and good lyrics. Even the 'England' song has a good tune but some rather silly lyrics... This is one of the best... Cheers. Enjoyed that, I'd previously always lumped them with the dodgy Oi bands before, dunno why.

Running Riot in 84 is equally impressive.
They were ahead of any silly Oi band although they did appear on a few of the albums.
You could do worse than get both these albums.

Aye another great song, when I first heard that album in 84 through my brother who was pally with the guitarist I was really impressed with the song writing ability. I was also impressed by the intelligence of the lyrics. An 'Oi'band? Surely not.
A couple of mates of mine who were just dole kids like me and never really liked punk really loved them too.

I remember, when i was living in Bristol back in the early 80s, someone asking me if i'd heard Cock Sparrer... i said no Them being associated with skinheads, indirectly or otherwise put me right off... but the bloke that asked me, told me thatΒ i really needed to hear " Shock Troops" ...so he did me a tape of it. When i played it, it was a revelation - the songs are so damn catchy and melodic, with thought provoking/amusing lyrics. Both 'Shock Troops' &' Running Riot in '84' are two of the best punk albums ever. I've been delving into Shock Troops and finding much to enjoy Thanks fellas
Best to experience live:

This is great....but a bit strange to se a punk band covering a song by the Stones from their flower power era

...more Punk bands than you might realise have covered Stones songs: The Dead Boys, Devo, The Damned, Social Distortion and Mad Parade 'f'starters

Just bought a punk CD clear out joblot. Nearly 200 in there, Rancid, Upstarts, NOFX, Bouncing Souls, Mad Sins etc. Half a dozen Sparrer in as well. Just playing Here We Stand album, thought it was going to be typical Oi! but this is melodic and crafted as fuck. Scanning the lyrics to see if there's anything dodgy but no. Running Riot was about my total knowledge until now but I'm enjoying this immensely.
Just googled the prices of their back catalogue, even used stuff commands double figures. Any fans?
