I'm guessing we can all get behind 1977's Runnin' Riot... COCK SPARRER - Runnin' Riot

Runnin Riot an absolute classic but that's it for me, probably thought they were too Oi! involved and I used to keep those bands at arms length. They only play a few gigs a year and they sell out in hours apparently. Must be a particular fan that they appeal to.

I remember, when i was living in Bristol back in the early 80s, someone asking me if i'd heard Cock Sparrer... i said no Them being associated with skinheads, indirectly or otherwise put me right off... but the bloke that asked me, told me that i really needed to hear "Shock Troops" ...so he did me a tape of it.
When i played it, it was a revelation - the songs are so damn catchy and melodic, with thought provoking/amusing lyrics.
After decades of of relative obscurity, Cock Sparrer are having the last laugh. Globally, they are now one of the biggest UK bands, still active from the first wave of Punk... although they, in fact considerably pre-date it.

Both 'Shock Troops' &' Running Riot in '84' are two of the best punk albums ever.
Like PU I always kept Oi at arms length but I like some of the music and Cock Sparrer predated that rubbish and were a classic mix of punk, rock and glam.
If anyone hasn't heard those two albums they don't know what they're missing.

Good group. They were doing 'Oi' 3 years before it was a thing.

Love em.Clearly people not into street punk/oi like these guys.Says a lot that they can lose a songwriter like Gary Lammin & still come up with the goods.

Choca full of good tunes and good lyrics.
Even the 'England' song has a good tune but some rather silly lyrics...
This is one of the best...

Even the 'England' song has a good tune but some rather silly lyrics Oh yeah. The England song. Years of being told you ain't as good as us Join the line, sign your name And they all said that our country's going bust But no-one's fooling us again
England belongs to me A nation's pride the dirty water of the rivers No one can take away her memory Oh oh, England belongs to me
We'll show the world that the boys are back to stay And you all know what we can do Heads held high, fighting all the way For the red, white, and blue
