About five years ago M'lord though I remember it vividly. An Easter Sunday and it absolutely pissed it down, still managed to draw a decent crowd though.
Must say they are excellent live but the early recorded output does not have a great deal of longevity, how many times can you listen to People Are Twats?
My mate up here is always singing their praises, must get around to hearing this new one.

I first heard/saw them back in early 2011, when i saw this wonderfully enchanting video which comes complete with a cameo appearance from another northern legend, with his sausage roll thumb!

I saw them live for the first time around then too and they were really entertaining and fun

They premiered this at the Revolutions gig, one of my faves. An Oop North take on the Mighty Boosh.

New album Eggsistentialism released on Friday (tomorrow) Looking forward to it You?
“Eggsistentialism” explores a much more personal, introspective, and reflective side to The Lovely Eggs world and sees the Eggs explore new sounds and experiment in unventured musical territories. “The new album is really a reflection on what has been happening to us these last couple of years, stewing up in Eggland in our own juices,” explains Holly. “It’s about loss and strength. On this album you’ll hear us at our lowest and most vulnerable. Daily life is hard. Realising everything you grew up with and loved is never coming back, alongside the responsibilities of caring for others is sometimes hard to take. The album is about life and death. Eggsistentialism. It’s about dragging yourself through all the shit to get to the other side.” “It’s a bit of a ‘wilderness years’ album,” continues Holly.
“We haven’t released a new record since 2020 and in the meantime, we’ve been here fighting shit and trying to defend a right to a lifestyle that we’ve enjoyed here in this town for the last 30+ years as working musicians who refuse to get a “normal” job and tow the line. It’s about believing in something and not letting go. But that unwillingness to give in ultimately takes its toll. It does start to destroy you and the album is kind of a documentation of that destruction and collapse as well as the strength we’ve got to get through it all. Ultimately, this is a hopeful record about survival.”
Their UK tour begins on 23 May at Saint Luke’s, Glasgow

One of my suppliers has this, so no brainer to buy it at wholesale price. Will report back later.

Eggsistenstialism
Pprobably won't feature on my albums of the year list but there's a lot to be enjoyed on their latest release. Great opening with a cinematic orchestrated swell before Holly screams 'shove your funding up your arse' and we're off in a blaze of guitar fuzz. Lots of Hawkwind FX noises throughout, space punk anyone? There's a couple of experimentation tracks that just don't work and on my third play I was skipping over them. But the final couple of tracks, Echo You and I Am Gaia bring something wonderfully new to the table. Absolute highlight for me below, a fabulous light sixties psych with double tracked vocals.

Fingers crossed we've found a new venue for gigs. Used to be overseen by stuffy anti rock middle class types. They've relented and I've co-sponsored a grunge/punk local band weekend. If that's a success then we're inviting the Eggs up for a day and night at the seaside.
