New album in 2021 Setting the Dogs on the Post Punk Postman 😃😃😃 www.cherryred.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/luke_haines_setting__jW9Pq.jpgLuke Haines In… Setting the Dogs On The Post Punk Postman’ is the new state of the nation address by Luke Haines. Given the state the nation is in, there is no better time for Luke Haines to speak his thoughts. These are thoughts concerning the Eastern Bloc, Ivor Cutler, the filmmaker and acid playwright Shuji Terayama, U-Boats, having no audience in Liverpool, swimming with Andrea Dworkin, and a fable about a suicidal couple (who just happen to be pumpkins). The album is not a concept album although Luke has agreed to allow it to be adapted into a five act play by a group of experimental Japanese psychologists to be performed in Tokyo sometime in the future. Luke Haines also has his first solo painting exhibition in Eston Arts Centre, Middlesbrough on March 4th – April 3rd 2021. Works will include new canvases of wrestlers and a Christmas tree decorated with baubles – each bauble representing a member of The Fall music group. ‘Setting The Dogs…’ also includes contributions from Peter Buck, (REM) and Julian Barratt (The Mighty Boosh).

Chatted briefly to him before a solo gig at London's Borderline. Was a really nice bloke. The curmudgeon appearance is all a put on. Very funny bloke live as well. "21st Century Man" is a great album, although I think lately there's been a bit too much product and a swerve to analogue synths that don't make for repeated listening. The latest with Peter Buck is okay-ish. Would love to see Black Box Recorder do another album. His first book is a great read as well, unless you're his old cello player.

Love it Doug
I bought a Bowie Ziggy one off her a few years back
Didn't know they'd split up - or were on the verge, though why would I?

Love that album. That's wrestler Adrian Street and his dad on the front cover. Me too The Adrian Street story is quite something too His dad never thought he'd amount to anything & that photo was from a Sunday paper story about him The photo illustrates how Adrian broke from the shackles of family expectation in order to follow his own path The image also shines a light on Britain's continued struggle to deal with issues around masculinity Back to BBR, their deadpan cover of Uptown Top Ranking is a personal fave... Black Box Recorder "Uptown Top Ranking"

Sarah's voice is delicious I have her solo album too and, as you suggest, it's nothing amazing
