I am a huge Clash fan but for some reason I never got into their debut album. To be honest I think I have listened more to Cut the crap over the years. I like a few Pistols songs, Stepping stone, Satellite, Anarchy, their cover of Substitute, Did you no wrong but I am not too keen on NMTB I suppose age is often a key component in feelings about music I was 14-15 when I first heard the Pistols, and 15 when the Clash debut arrived I played those records to death and hearing them now can still evoke those feelings of excitement Cut The Crap on the other hand I have barely heard, though do like This Is England. The rest sounded v substandard but maybe there’s more there than I realise? Cut The Crap on the other hand I have barely heard, though do like This Is England. The rest sounded v substandard but maybe there’s more there than I realise? Nope, there isn't. Effectively a Strummer solo. "We Are The Clash" should have been enough to send folk screaming to the hills.

Man, that first Clash album. Had played the Spunk boot to death by the time NMTB came out and although I loved it, it never felt as immediate to me as The Clash did. Inflammable Material was the last punk album to make me feel that way. The last kick of punk before it mutated into other great and not so great directions.

I had the Pink Floyd - Animals on tape. Couldn't be much bothered with it today (or even then) I never liked it, but it has stood the test of time better than the others I think, quite a punk influence in the anger on display. Their best post-Syd effort IMO. The rest is just 'meh'

I bought them all except Damned (had that on a tape) and Vibrators. Nobody I knew was into them at the time. I've got it now
