I think one of the only things they got right in 'Pistol' was Sid's voice!

Very hard to imagine Sid alive in 2023, and if he had survived would he ever have got himself together? Again, v hard to imagine. A doomed character from the off and always too easily influenced and too easily seduced by his image. A tragic life really and a victim of his chaotic upbringing

A tragic life really and a victim of his chaotic upbringing I doubt he'd have liked the 21st Century much either. His image would have been superceded too readily. Drugs would have done for him sooner or later too. Or maybe he would have just became one of those old boys who spends every afternoon weekday in the pub watching the racing and nipping out to the Bookies.....then again, maybe not. |

Believe it or not a bit of My Way from Sid Sings was played on 5 Live overnight. Nothing to do with the anniversary, I think someone had suggested it for their jukebox playlist.

I met someone who had a brief dalliance with Sid's mum and remembers little John being around as a toddler - so not the father but it was interesting hearing him talk about it, and realising years later that Anne Beverley's son had grown up to be Sid
