I don't know their LPs but they had at least three great songs to my mind (Auf Wiedersehen , Dream Police and I Want You To Me Want Me)
Quite a hard band to categorize.
Seem to be best known for their Budokan live album that of course is mentioned in a Half Man Half Biscuit song.

I've never really understood the appeal of Cheap Trick
One of those groups that some critics adore but who didn't seem to connect with many music fans
I'll check out those "three great songs" Stu - thanks

i didn't pay much attention to Cheap Trick back in the late 70s, but started listening to them about 2O years ago. They have WAY more than 3 good songs. It's worth listening to the live Budokan album in it's full form.
They had one foot in Power Pop... the other in Heavy Rock

Maybe I should give em a proper listen. Sometimes it's all about timing.
Surrender sounds pretty good

I'm very lukewarm on their albums, like a watered down Van Halen. However, the Live At The Budokan album is worth a listen, rocks far harder than the polished studio stuff. I Want You and Surrender are on there and it finishes with a boogietastic Clock Strikes Ten.

I've never really understood the appeal of Cheap Trick Me neither. The only thing I remember about them is the annoying twit with the stupid hat, seemed like a crap copy of Angus Young, who was also crap.

They have always reminded me of a type of American music that doesn't travel well.

Their first album is solid. I like the three studio albums after that too. Those seem to be the peak from what I've read.
They are playing a few UK dates very soon, I'm very tempted.

Been listening to the second and third albums again.
Frankly I don't know how anyone could dislike this band - especially if they like the more tasteful elements of glam rock. I'm hooked.

I don't dislike them but have never connected with them despite giving them a few tries over the years
One day I expect I'll have an epiphany - there's clearly something I'm missing
