Anyone considering a festival in 2021? A friend of mine has invited me to Standon Valley South No, me neither The line up is very old school My mate said he went a few years ago and had a laugh - he describes it as very white, full of old punks and a few mods, and very Brexit-y Not a bad line up though eh?.... www.stonevalleyfestival.co.uk/stone-valley-south-line-ups/All yours for £49 for the weekend, or £60 with camping I'll probably get a ticket

What does Brexit-y mean?
The actual line looks not bad actually. I'd always have a skank to the Selector.
How silly do Dirt Box Disco look?

Yes, it does look good
Brexit-y means full of people who voted for Brexit and who are happy with the outcome of the referendum

You assume everyone who voted for Brexit is explicitly racist e.g "right wing fuckheads waving Union flags" and people who "hate Eastern Europeans and black people" This is patently wrong My Mum voted for Brexit, as did some of cousins in Manchester and Birmingham. None of them fit this description Back to the original term Brexit-y - perhaps some photos might help If I had to guess which way these people voted in referendum I'd guess LEAVE (I dunno if they did or they didn't but I'm getting a Brexity vibe)...

The revival 'mods' were predominantly dim-witted bigots as far as I remember.

Yes, it does look good Brexit-y means full of people who voted for Brexit and who are happy with the outcome of the referendum I didn't vote as I was far away at a funeral that day. However, it should be remembered that the old fashioned Socialist view would be to vote for Brexit. It's only the newer, younger more Europhile Labour supporters (dare I say Blairites) that woulkd be remainers. Here someone makes a case I would agree with. inews.co.uk/opinion/comment/im-a-socialist-and-a-jeremy-corbyn-supporter-and-i-voted-for-brexit-188919

Old fashioned communists hate the EU cos it prevented westward expansion by the Soviets. Ironically, the EU sweetened the pill by implementing a number of quasi-socialistic policies including holding corporations accountable to regulations and standards. The beneficiaries of Brexit are the robber barons who bankrolled it in order to get rid of those regulations and standards that got in the way of their greed, exploiting the ignorance and prejudice of poorly educated sections of the electorate who will gain no benefit from it.

The EU was great when it did what it was supposed to and didn't spend all it's time increasing size and breadth in a way never intended and ever more wasteful. Sure, if you are Germany and a big export nation you can profit from it to the tune of 80 billion a year, but for a country based in the service industry it was always going to be financially damaging. Regulations and standards are very important, you are right, but with a proper left wing government in power then they could be tougher than even the EU implements. We can't just champion the EU because it limits what the Tories can get away with, we have to get rid of the fuckers ourselves, that's what democracy is all about. Also, we can't just label everyone who doesn't think politically the way we do as "poorly educated". That's just being bad losers.
