Anyone recommend a good extensive book on the scene? I only have a basic knowledge and feel like dipping my toes more in the warm waters. The early days.

You could read American Hardcore by Steven Blush which is quite extensive but I don't really like the tone of it but as LE says Andy is the expert👍

Actually now I think about it this is great (albeit LA specific)... We Got the Neutron Bomb: The Untold Story of L.A. Punk by Marc Spitz & Brendan Mullen

Anyone recommend a good extensive book on the scene? I only have a basic knowledge and feel like dipping my toes more in the warm waters. The early days. ...all of the above, Nigey ...plus writing to people in other countries - sending each other Mix Tapes. A Pen Pal in Los Angeles sent me Mix tapes in the early 80s... i'd never heard of any of the bands on them, so i went hunting for those records, which was not easy. likewise, i educated him about the early UK bands he'd not heard e.g. Carpettes, Killjoys, Eater, Users People from other countries sending me Fanzines was a big help... and later on Maximum Rock'n'Roll and Flipside Fanzines could be bought in the UK. On visits to London from around 1983/4 onwards... i would always head to the Rough Trade shop in Ladbroke Grove. This book was my BIBLE Could this be the book Doug?
Not sure how easy it is to procure though - one copy on eBay for £80!
A more modest £60 on Abebooks
