I pretty much ignored Iggy's album from last year
Did anyone give it a proper listen?
This is the latest single...
Iggy Pop - We Are The People
Gots to say, it doesn't do much for me but I prefer Mr O when he is jumping up and down

^ I remember Iggy miming to this song on Countdown in 1979. The performance and some of his antics beforehand can be seen in the clip below. Don't know what he was on, but he was certainly wound up pretty tight. The teeny-bopper audience seem totally bemused

^ I like the bit where Molly says "I saw you in Detroit with David Bowie". And Iggy replies, "No, he played piano in my band. He was with me".

The only solo Iggy album I own is the Idiot Pity he's best known for Lust For Life and the Passenger both of which I don't like much This is obviously great , I don't know what the rest of the album is like I'm Bored is from New Values which is a great album - one of my faves I got my copy signed by Iggy and Scott Thurston at Virgin in Marble Arch Chock full of great tunes - bear in mind it's not The Stooges even though James Williamson produced it A neglected gem Iggy Pop - Five Foot OneThe follow up album - Soldier (1980) - whilst no masterpiece is the most fun Iggy album around with some really witty tunes I've always loved Play it SafeHere's some great triv about the song.... While Iggy was recording Soldier at Rockford Studios in rural Wales in 1979, he and Bowie decided they needed a bloke-y chorus to sing "I want to be a criminal/Play it safe" in the style of a football chant. At the same time, a fledgling Scottish New Wave group was also recording at Rockford, which is how Simple Minds got to guest on an Iggy Pop track. "In his diplomatic way, Bowie said, 'Why don't the people who sing professionally step nearer the microphone, and those who don't step well back?" Simple Minds lead singer Jim Kerr later told Mojo. "That's how I came to find myself sandwiched between David Bowie and Iggy Pop, singing that song." Speaking of sandwiches, the sessions also completely upended Kerr's expectations regarding Bowie's diet: "I remember David Bowie eating a lot of cheese and thinking, I didn't think David Bowie would be a cheese-eating guy." Iggy Pop - Play it Safe
