Great clip Andy - you've also inspired a thread about The Roxy

I don't remember ever hearing the album that came out on CBS The Cortinas – True Romances (1978) Is it any good? Finally got round to checking this out I really enjoyed it Strong R&B flavour From the perspective of 2021 it sounds pretty good Not especially punky which would have been an issue at the time but still very enjoyable

When their first single was released, i remember seeing them on our local tea time BBC Region News programme Points West playing ' Fascist Dictator' - my memory of it is blurred, but i do remember Jeremy Valentine had a rather natty quiff and was wearing a Donkey Jacket... that was 'radical' at the time I'd like to think the BBC still have this on archive somewhere but it's probably been wiped.

I was getting familiar with this one last night - recorded at Steppin' Out Studios, Bristol on the 9th Jan 1978
Another winner - definitely prefer the rawer versions but still like the CBS album versions too Underrated group Tracklist 1 Tribe Of The City 2 I Don't Really Want To Get Involved 3 Youth Club Dance 4 Ask Mr. Waverley 5 Have It With You 6 Broken Not Twisted 7 Heartache 8 Radio Rape 9 Justice 10 Further Education 11 I Trust Valerie Singleton 12 First I Look At The Purse

...the thing that baffles me about those sessions is, to my ears, they sound identical to the GBH Studios sessions they did in 1977. I will have to consult Steve Street on that

Yes... it's a good read that needs time to digest. i got a reply from Steve Street. To summarise... GBH Studios became Steppin' Out Studios, he doesn't understand the two separate dates given for the demos session and reckons it's a mistake. They sound identical to me.
