A suspended former Greater Manchester Police chief officer is facing gross misconduct proceedings amid an investigation over his wearing of military medals, it was confirmed today. Nick Adderley, who was suspended from his position as Chief Constable of Northamptonshire Police last October, is facing accelerated gross misconduct proceedings after allegedly misrepresenting his military service, the office for Northamptonshire's Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner said. Mr Adderley, who was in charge of GMP's Tameside division in 2012 when fugitive murderer Dale Cregan shot dead PCs Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bone and has served in the Royal Navy, is alleged to have misrepresented his past by wearing a Falklands War campaign medal. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/suspended-ex-gmp-chief-to-28545131

The vast majority of cops at Greater Manchester Police say they are worse off than five years ago, according to a survey. A quarter reported they didn't earn enough to cover essential bills and 16 per cent said they wanted to leave the force because of pay. A picture of low morale in the force has emerged in a new report published by the Police Federation of England and Wales, which revealed 86 per cent of respondents from GMP reported they were 'worse off’ financially now than they were five years ago and 22 per cent 'never' or 'almost never' have enough money to cover all their essential bills. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/struggling-gmp-cops-lining-up-28977865?int_source=nba

A former police officer who shared images of a dead body has pleaded guilty to three counts of misconduct in public office. Lewis Wood, 42, of Bridgwater, Somerset, shared footage relating to a number of investigations he attended between December 2018 and August 2020. He accessed Avon and Somerset Police computer systems at least seven times and shared images and videos with family and friends on WhatsApp. He will be sentenced on 9 February. Exeter Crown Court heard how Wood recorded the policing material on his personal phone and shared it while serving as a police constable. His offences included sharing images of a dead man. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-somerset-67589269
