Andy's clip of The Cortinas at the Roxy led me to this trailer for an as yet unmade film about the 100 nights of the ROXY CLUB...
Shame it's yet to be made
Underneath the vid it states...
Still like to make this film...get in touch if you want to work on this project. we need a producer, archive research, financial backing.

OK Nigey... Cortinas and Roxy Club related... here is Jeremy Vallentine and Nick Sheppard from The Cortinas having a heated debate with some angry young (and quite posh) upstart about the music business and the press, backstage at the Roxy...

The first four minutes of this entertaining video (sound's a bit dodgy though) is James Stevenson talking about the Roxy club outside and inside the Speedo store...
James Stevenson - The Punk Clubs Of London Tour
As time flies by, at what seems like an ever increasing rate, I thought I'd take a look back at where I played in 1977/78 when punk was the new phenomena! I originally did this as an exclusive for The International Swingers PledgeMusic campaign, but now here it is in the public domain. Sorry about the wind messing up the audio here and there.......hope you enjoy it. And thanks for shooting it Dylan White!

I know it's time for a reprint of Paul Marko's definitive book. I'd like a copy at a reasonable price.

...Funnily enough, i know a fella in Milan who is translating Paul's Roxy Book into Italian at the mo' ...so maybe an English reprint is in the pipeling too. Myself and Paul are currently working on something 'audio' (several projects) at the moment too that is Roxy Club related.

Flipside London TV: The Roxy and the Birth of Punk Rock
Aidan McManus rolls into London's Covent Garden to the site of the original 1977 Punk Club, The Roxy in Neal Street. He tells the tale of how Andy Czezowski, Susan Carrington and Barry Jones turned a transvestite bar (called the Chaguaramas Club) into the crucible of London's Punk Rock music scene - playing host to bands including The Clash, The Stranglers, Siouxsie Sioux and The Banshees, Buzzcocks, Generation X and many more.
Speed, alcohol, ripped up clothing and rules fuelled the Roxy crowd along with the fast, raw DIY culture of music and fashion that formed the growing scene. The club itself was short-lived but its influence on UK music and culture can still be felt today.

My Roxy story is the most boring one ever. I was 13 and persuaded my uncle's ex-wife (with whom I was staying) to leave me there while she and her new bloke went for dinner up the road.
I paid my 50p, went in and hung around for about an hour early doors. Letts was playing reggae tunes and I left before the first band came on, keeping my promise to meet my ex-aunt for the tube ride back to the Barbcan
