Amazing the songs are still being celebrated
Some great tunes dismissed
It’s all so subjective

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czrgkz283kkoFormer Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr has dismissed talk of a reunion of his former band by using a picture of Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. Replying to a fan suggestion on X that the 80s indie rock legends could follow Oasis's example and get back together, Marr posted a picture of the Clacton MP. He has not explained the post further, but has previously derided the political views of both Mr Farage and his former bandmate Morrissey.

If I was Johnny I'd be reacting in the same way
A shame as there are so many who would love to see them play those tunes again but which ever way you cut it Morrissey took a wrong turn somewhere and now spouts all kind of dangerous nonsense

If they did reform it'd surely be about money and nothing else. Even though both of them are very wealthy. And you just know that all the tickets would go to eventists not real fans. Morrissey even has a song that blames Islamists for the Notre Dame fire. Though he's not played it recently.

Morrissey has claimed his former bandmate Johnny Marr "ignored" a "lucrative offer" to reform The Smiths for a global tour in 2025. The band, who formed in Manchester in 1982, produced four albums which arguably redefined British guitar music before an acrimonious split in 1987. A statement on Morrissey's website said the singer "said yes" to an offer by AEG Entertainment Group to tour as The Smiths throughout 2025, but "Marr ignored the offer". www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp352111wyxo

I'm flabbergasted that Morrissey wants a reunion. Unless he's just lying to make Marr the villain of the peace. The onstage chemistry would be fake or non-existent. And of course what would the inevitable new music be like apart from inferior to the previous stuff and lyrically dodgy?

I guess they were offered a huge sum of money to do it

I guess they were offered a huge sum of money to do it Yeah although it confuses me how badly I'd want another £100m if I was already worth £50m. Unless we have entered an age where being on stage is just another cold business decision with absolutely no pretence of comradeship.
