As a nipper I always found Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town slightly disquieting. Crippled war veteran with floozy wife, who he thinks of killing. Not the subject matter for a six year old.

Yes indeed, Ruby is a bizarre and disturbing song lyrically. It's also got a great melody though and, overall, works for me.
Leonard Nimoy did a cover of it - it's not very interesting though
I can't claim to know much about Kenny or his work but, from my limited knowledge, this is his best...
First Edition - Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)
It was thanks to The Big Lebowski that I came across it...

I always thought 'Lucille' sent a mixed message. Not sure how to take that one.
For reasons I can no longer remember, we had a huge poster of Kenny's grinning face in the living room of a share house I lived in. It gradually gained a few additions, like blacked-out teeth and a large earring made from a Xmas decoration. It stayed there for ages.
I suppose it all shows that no matter how much we liked to denigrate the man, we couldn't ignore him.
RIP Kenny

That was beautiful, man.
