Making a 19 year old with a couple of caps take a pen wtf
Considering how they started that's a very disappointing conclusion.

Southgate's way too conservative nature just caught up with him eventually. Grealish should have been on from the 55th minute once it was clear we were getting swamped in the second half. just sat deep and hoped for the best. I said to my son before the penalties that any player that did a "stutter" run up would miss. They always try and be too clever. Just run and hit the ball as hard as you can in the corner used to be the order of the day and worked just fine as Kane showed. Oh, well. Bring on the proper football. We are on a tour of Scotland at the moment and beat Motherwell 2-0 in our first pre season, anyone tell me how decent they are as a side?

Very disappointed with the racial abuse that Rashford, Sancho and Saka have been receiving on social media. And there's probably another UEFA fine on the way for the 'storming' of the stadium by ticketless fans before the match, like Heysel and Hillsborough never happened. England are champions at having some of the most moronic 'fans' in Europe.

Let's be honest, England winged it to the semi final.
An own goal, a dodgy penalty, a lucky rebound.
Shining a light in the opposition goalkeepers eyes.
Racially abusing the 3 young penalty takers.
Utterly disgraceful.
Southgate may be conservative but he's a good man.
Pity the horrible bastards who call themselves fans can't live up to his standards.

Overall it’s another step forward but it is the same old story too. As soon as England come up against a team better at keeping the ball we fall short.
Hopefully in Qatar it will another step forward. Especially with Sancho, Saka, Bellingham etc even better still. Plus Sterling has plenty more to offer and Luke Shaw. That said, hard to imagine France self destructing again.
Also hope we get to see England play to their strengths more. Southgate’s cautious approach so nearly worked but last night I felt he played into Italy’s hands with five at the back plus increasingly ceding possession. Italy pre game were terrified of England’s pace but there was little evidence of it from 55 minutes
Still, win that penalty shoot out and the narrative is completely different and no one would be dwelling on what could have been done differently.
In other news only 33 days til the Prem restarts and 28 days until the EFL kicks off. The fun never stops.

Motherwell are a pretty bog standard Scottish Premiership team Doug. The town itself(a former steeltown)looks like a demilitarized zone out in the wasteland that is now Lanarkshire.

So, reflections on the tournament as a whole? Before we all move on Good apart from the shit English media ruining it for people who want to watch football. Instead, we're served up a diet of right wing English nationalist tripe. No wonder the world is laughing at England and it's horrible, odious fans.

Good tournament, lot better than I expected with the pandemic. High standard of refereeing and the VAR seemed to be a lot quicker than the two minute waits we get in the EPL. I would rather England lost in actual playing time than the penalty system but hey ho, forever the bridesmaid. Not much interest in the forthcoming World Cup, shouldn't be in Qatar for a myriad of reasons.
Come on Forest!

Very enjoyable tournament. Plenty of goals, drama, shocks.
I'm not particularly invested in the England team but think this particular group of players are a breath of fresh air. A really likeable and talented bunch who seem to get on very well.
The future is very bright for England with some amazing talent still yet to peak. It should be an exciting 10 years on that front.
More generally it's great to see Italy bounce back from not even qualifying for the last World Cup. Mancini has done an incredible job. International football needs a strong Italy team to feel complete.
I suspect Belgium are now going to fade quickly as a team given their key players are aging, but maybe they have one last hurrah in 18 months at Qatar. Germany don't look like they're going to get their mojo back in time for Nov 2022. I'm still baffled by France's self destruction. Clearly the best team in the world....and yet. I loved seeing Hungary playing in front of full stadium in Budapest but their racist fans can go and do one. Wales were great. Spain look like they will bounce back especially with Pedri. Great to see Scotland back at a major tournament. Playing games in Baku was a disgrace. As was UEFA banning rainbow flags etc. Denmark after the Ericksen tragedy were probably the story of the tournament. Amazing.
Turkey were the worst dark horses in the history of dark horses!
So much to enjoy. I've probably forgotten loads. Great tournament.

England are champions at having some of the most moronic 'fans' in Europe. Think perspective is needed, I'm sure they've had thousands more positive messages of support than negative one from a few morons. that doesn't a good news headline make, though.
