My reflections would be that Southgate is an ideal man for the FA, and may long continue to manage England as he ticks all the right boxes. With such an extraordinary surfeit of talent in the squad at the moment though they are being wasted by the wrong tactics though and should have been caught out earlier. Denmark played some very nice football but didn't have good enough fitness levels, Germany are the worst I can ever remember them being. Belgium are finished and Spain and Italy are decidedly average. Also glad to see that the unfair multi country staging will not be repeated.

Southgate has a good record as England manager.
All these people sticking the boot into him just come across as ungrateful bastards.
Even though they winged the semi final, it could have been a lot, lot worse with another manager.

Even though they winged the semi final, it could have been a lot, lot worse with another manager. You have to ask just one question, could he get a job with a top European side and the answer is no. Seems a nice enough bloke and ambassador for the English game, but could he completely turn a team around the way Mancini did at halftime? Not a chance. Not sticking the boot in, have felt it from day one.

Hah ! Roguey is back. Knew you wouldn't be able to resist a bit an anti-triumphalism with a side order of gloating. Said it earlier. Mystic Bill yeh ?
England fans are disappointed but happy with the progression. Southgate is limited but he is surrounded by good people and has more than enough credit in the bank to stay in situ and hopefully take this squad on. Most interntational managers look at the players at his disposal with envy. Only France has a better squad. Just hope he can fulfil the potential but wonder if that was his best chance. Home advantage, kind draw etc .
Really enjoyable tournament for all the reasons already said elsewhere. I may not boycott Qatar after all !

Let's be honest, England winged it to the semi final. An own goal, a dodgy penalty, a lucky rebound. Shining a light in the opposition goalkeepers eyes. Racially abusing the 3 young penalty takers. Utterly disgraceful. Southgate may be conservative but he's a good man. Pity the horrible bastards who call themselves fans can't live up to his standards. Not sure why people see it this way. If they didn’t score the OG Sterling was an inch behind him ready to smack it in so it was really inevitable, not like England got lucky there. The penalty, while soft, was overdue after the foul on Kane inside the box earlier in the game. Not sure which rebound that is being referred to. The other stuff is more or less par for the course, some of the videos I saw from the day were insane, people doing beak at 11am and shoving flares up their chutney and all that.

Very disappointed with the racial abuse that Rashford, Sancho and Saka have been receiving on social media. And there's probably another UEFA fine on the way for the 'storming' of the stadium by ticketless fans before the match, like Heysel and Hillsborough never happened. England are champions at having some of the most moronic 'fans' in Europe. Think perspective is needed, I'm sure they've had thousands more positive messages of support than negative one from a few morons. that doesn't a good news headline make, though. All true but still so fukkin depressing. One message is one too many. So much ignorance and stupidity out there. Vast majority of England fans are nice people. The same people who drown out the boos when the players take the knee whilst the ignorant wankers are wilfully misunderstanding an anti racist gesture. Makes me sick to be honest.

I think England could have won that game but they let the Italians engulf like the tide and you really didn’t need to be a clairvoyant to see where the game was going after the first thirty or so minutes. I’m not sure why he brought Rashford on as he’s not a great penalty taker, not sure about Sancho, probably could have put somebody else on it before Saka as well. I’m enjoying the comments from people who are acting like this is English comeuppance and a victory against racism (?) when Italy are currently and historically quite openly and hideously racist lol.
I loved Pickford last night and he did everything he could but his team let him down, I saw a video before one of his saves where he’s talking to himself saying “it’s alright, no problem no problem” that made me laugh as well.

It's grey and deathly quiet outside and I've just found out someone was knocked down and killed yards from my front door at 1am last night.
Welcome back to reality.

Pickford did well in the penalties, but English goalkeeping has really suffered from the new "play out from the back" creed and the top clubs always buying from overseas rather than bringing talent through. He's the best of a decidedly poor batch.

Pickford did do well. I feel we can never relax with him though. Long term I expect Dean Henderson to be Englands number one.

I would be embarrassed if I was an England fan just now. Disgraceful racists, fighting with each other. Giving disabled supporters grief when they complained about unticketed fans stealing their spaces. All done in Englands name. This is post Brexit England where mob rule runs the streets.

Deserved to lose all things considered, England let it slip away so I don’t feel too bad about the whole thing, if we’d won on pens it would have been an injustice for the Italians.
