At the end of the day, every European empire has to deal with it's past-and that includes Scots who were also the soldiers, engineers and intelligentsia of the British Empire.
I think the German's had to deal with the legacy of fascism quite quickly as it could have been a huge historical albatross around their necks.
I've always found Berliners friendly and affable people-a great place to visit.π

I see that Wales and England fan's were battering lumps out of each other in Tenerife?
What's wrong with these drunken duds?

Forget about this phoney and shameful World Cup. Here's a good wee story about the 1978 one as told by legendary Scotland keeper, Alan Rough sporting a legendary blonde perm....π www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52892898

I'm very ambivalent about England
I find any kind of patriotism a bit awkward
English patriotism seems to bring out the worst in many people
My enjoyment of the world cup is often about appreciating the unexpected - sadly not seeing any of this WC for obvious reasons but delighted for Japan nonetheless especially as Albion's Mitoma is playing a big role

It's not the England players who I don't like, who after all, are just trying to win like anyone else.
It's the hysterical nationalism of the media and yobbishness of some of the fans who think they can go anywhere in the world and tear it up.
The droning on about 1966 is also quite funny, it's so desperate π.
If VAR was around the likes of Bobby Moore would only be remembered for nicking a bracelet in 1970 rather than winning anything.ππ

Yeah, it's a shame as this crop of players are generally quite likeable and Southgate's clearly a good egg too (albeit v negative as a coach)
Other than that it is often embarrassing
I hate the nationalism and the yobbishness
I'd say the media are a bit more realistic these days and people are less inclined to go on about 1966 given the majority of people alive now have no recollection
They'll probably go and win it now

I can't understand the people who have it in for Southgate, he's one of the good guys.
Jealousy perhaps.π€

The English media have already gotten Senegal beaten. When it comes to penalty shoot outs and major trophies generally, the English team couldn't beat a carpet ππ

Suarez is on the bench close to tears and Calvani is diving as they need one goal to go through on goal difference.
