^True. People like Percy Herbert and Norman Rossington.
It's also good to see if you can spot young actors before they were famous...ie the likes of Bill Owen who played Compo in that hilariously funny sitcom 'Last of the Summer Wine'.

Crown Court.
TPTV are showing this blast from the past in the afternoons so I've recorded a few.
I hadn't seen these since the late 70's when it used to be on after the ITV News at 1.
Low production values but consumate acting as I reckon some of these scenes were done in one or two takes.
As the cases unravel so do the performances.
Worth revisiting for old times sake.
The current ones are from 1972.

^^^^^^ Fantastic I always liked that. There are a few episodes I'd like to see eg the one with Peter Wyngarde from 1984.

To be honest I don't remember many episodes at all.
It's possible that they may show the whole series.🤔
Great bit of ensemble acting all round. The one I'm watching features Barbara Shelley who appeared in a few Hammer films.

Another entertaining 'Crown Court' story entitled 'Conspiracy'.
2 radicals allegedly bomb a right wing printing press situated in a building but as the prosecution calls reactionary witnesses, things aren't what they seem.
Considering this was filmed in 1972 after the Angry Brigade bombings, this was quite daring.
Top acting and well written exchanges.
And a great fictional snapshot of the era.👍

Brill 😎 I downloaded some years ago, among the guest stars were Mike Pratt, Pauline Quirke and Ian Hendry.

Aye, there's lots of famous faces on that list.
Some of the acting is top notch too which is even more remarkable given that it was done in a couple of takes.
Old school sink or swim. Can you imagine talentless nuggets like James Corden stepping up to the mark?

Meantime 9pm tonight.
Well worth recording if you're out tonight. 1983 Mike Leigh comedy drama on the ravages of Thatcherism. Phil Daniels, Gary Oldman and a truly brilliant Tim Roth as socially inept Colin, all navigating the crushing weight of teen unemployment.

Wasn't this the first film shown on C4?

Not seen that since watching it in the cinema
I am out but have no way of recording TV anymore - pretty sure Talking Pictures don't have a streaming platform too

Pretty good print of Meantime on YouTube. Better than whatever it was I saw it on.
