It's hard to avoid noticing that life is becoming more and more cruel for the 'unfortunate'. Certain recent social trends people have mentioned to me that I'd rather not go into here but which have left me in no doubt whatsoever that people are becoming more and more full of shit, smug , obnoxious and generally deserving of something absolutely awful in their lives. And it's all about to get even more crueller. Have a nice weekend 😁 Every time anything gets worse there’s an army of toadies explaining why things simply have to be that way, as if everything simply has to be worse for everybody else. I can’t remember a time in my life when anything ever got better for everybody but I’ve still got hope for the future for whatever reason, lol!

Removing tax off fuel is a quick win - but nah, they won't do it
It would also help the poorest the most

Labour in Scotland have suggested a windful tax on the energy companies to give to people struggling to pay their bills a 'rebate'. Like a neo liberal Robin Hood.
Of course, they're safe suggesting this knowing that they won't get in, makes them appear radical when they're nothing of the sort.
Perhaps if the millionaire Labour Leader of the Branch Office in Scotland Anas Sarwar started paying his own workers minimum wage then they might be able to afford to put their fires on.

It make a lot of sense The energy companies are making billions through pure chance It would be a simple way to help the millions of people struggling My gas usuage was minimal in April. Despite some pretty nippy weather at the start of the month we got by on extra blankets etc. Good practice for next winter and beyond. Heat the human not the house is the way to go. Sadly.

Of course it makes sense which is why they're suggesting it to con people out of their votes. The only solution is total nationalisation of all energy companies. I wouldn't freeze for anyone regardless of how high their tariffs are even if I was cut off I'd make my own fire. Why should people sit around in their homes like Scott of the Antarctic whilst these wretches fritter away money as it was going out of fashion? Millionaires like Sturgeon and Sarwar should be living on workers salaries as public servants and be donating the excess to a rebate fund for poor families. They should lead by example but these people won't as they don't give a fuck.

Yes absolutely there is always a cadre of maggots justifying it and you sense that they are smugly revelling in how much harder it is getting and they are proud of how much they can take and the fact that no matter how bad things get they never oppose their masters.

I wouldn't freeze for anyone ... I'd make my own fire How would that work rogue? Unless you had a chimney you'd have to let the smoke out, and also the heat And it would be a hell of a fire risk What would you burn and where would you get it? Genuinely curious about how you would make it work

The worst part of winter for me is the icy air that gets up my nose and makes me sneeze even if I'm wrapped in a ton of blankets and my actual body is warm. Maybe I should wear a crash helmet or something .

Obviously the Moderator has never had to either;
Build a fire-externally or internally Fiddle the 'lecky....
Incidently check out how you can heat your house with a bin and a candle...

Built many a fire outside + in a fireplace inside
Without a fireplace/open chimney you'd risk setting your flat on fire & causing serious risk to yourself and your neighbours
Maybe a container like a fire pit? But you still have to ventilate to get rid of the smoke
Plus smoke alarms and fire alarms
Anyway, doesn't matter, it was obviously just a throwaway comment and not a practical suggestion
Let's leave it at that

Some people know when [the store] puts out reductions. They come to the store at 8pm and you can see crowds of people at the reductions counter climbing over each other to get what’s cheap. When there is something in the aisles that is on offer, people buy what’s cheap that week and don’t have it the next.
There are definitely a number of things that never had security tags before but have got them now We used to get shoplifters stealing high-value things to sell on, which is not uncommon. Now it’s people stealing everyday things, doing their weekly shop and trying to walk out without paying.

Workers have suffered a record real-term pay slump in the face of soaring prices, official data reveals.Regular wages, excluding bonuses, plunged an average of 4.1% on the year in the three months to June when inflation is taken into account, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). It is the highest fall since records began more than two decades ago and is the ninth consecutive month-on-month drop in real-term pay, the figures show. It comes after the rate of consumer price index (CPI) inflation hit a 40-year record of 9.4% in June and is expected to reach as high as 11% later this year. Bills have surged due to soaring energy and fuel bills amid the impact of the Ukraine war, but many have seen wages struggle to keep up. The squeeze on real-term pay will ramp up pressure on the government to take further action to tackle the cost of living crisis. news.sky.com/story/cost-of-living-workers-suffer-record-pay-slump-in-face-of-rocketing-inflation-12674177
