A lot of news websites seem to be obsessed with making things seem worse than they are and promoting petty conflicts between celebrities as being somehow significant.
The MSN site is particularly bad for this.

Reading the Manchester Evening News website several times a day is enough to make anyone vomit at the poor excuses for humanity that live among us. Today for instance: *Woman mauled by dog not on lead (this is regular and makes me absolutely furious) *Woman leaves job to make £100,000 a year on OnlyFans (good luck to her but these people are laughing at those who have to do real work for fuck all) Regularly there are stories about cockroaches beating up their girlfriends who of course they psychologically abuse and control. It seems increasingly like you have to be a complete c*** to survive in this world. A lot of these stories are aimed at a certain 'audience who quite frankly have the collective brains of a gnat. There's a fanzine you can buy in most newsagents in Glasgow called 'The Digger' which is basically a gossip magazine for hoods and the scum which find their criminal activities 'interesting'. The point being that a lot of people see these type of people as a role model rather than anything positive regardless of how true the actual stories are. Pathletic specimens that they are.

Horrible stories I strongly recommend you stay away from that website though It sounds as though they have an agenda to promote the awful stuff that happens and ignore the good things Try this for a different take on the world... justgivemepositivenews.com/Agreed, they should be given a wide berth.

I say again Stu, just stay away
I allow myself 10-15 minutes at about 7 am to listen to Radio 4 and scan a few online news websites and that’s it. Some days I don’t bother at all.
There’s so much good stuff to enjoy why spend any more time than you need to on the toxic places

Animal abuse stories are of course quite regular. Those just make me wish I could kill those responsible.
I'm aware that cockroach behaviour is still the exception rather than the rule. It's hard to stay off local news websites as naturally I'm curious about what goes on.

I have an adblocker on my browser, just looking at the main MEN page it blocked 25 adverts. Tells me all I need to know really.

It seems increasingly like you have to be a complete c*** to survive in this world. Not necessarily, but there have always been c***s mixed in with the general population and there always will be until the human race dies out

I gave up social media a while back ( Twitter, Instagram, facebook ) as I don't want these people impacting on my day. And I feel so much better for it. I was perfectly happy - and survived rather well - before social media, so why let it intrude and interfere. I don't feel as if I'm missing out. Most info is available elsewhere, and if anything seems that immediate ( fear of missing out ) it is only designed to separate you from money.

Never, ever joined any social media forum like FB etc and I never will.
A fact that I'm quite proud of.
To me it's continual use is for lamebrains, weakminded escapists and the mentally deficient.
An obsession over a fucking telephone. Says it all about 21st Century living.

Old fashioned message boards like this are a primitive form of social media which I find preferable. This is the only messageboard I've joined apart from a brief stint on an anarcho punk board whilst TP was in hiatus. I made 8 posts. It was full of antifa types who liked crustpunk, pious and elitist. I've always thought the likes of FB were for nosey bastards. It's indicative of the modern world that people prefer to live their lives through a device rather than the tangibility of the here and now.

It's hard to avoid noticing that life is becoming more and more cruel for the 'unfortunate'. Certain recent social trends people have mentioned to me that I'd rather not go into here but which have left me in no doubt whatsoever that people are becoming more and more full of shit, smug , obnoxious and generally deserving of something absolutely awful in their lives. And it's all about to get even more crueller.
Have a nice weekend 😁
