If you're in the UK, switch off all appliances on standby and wear an extra layer
The 54% rise in the energy price cap means a household using a typical amount of gas and electricity will now pay £1,971 per year
Luckily our overlords here in England are attuned to the levels of suffering and have done all they can to help the most needy
I've had the heating off for weeks now but, wouldn't you know it, there's a cold snap again

Welcome to global Britain. Ker-ching The most ridiculous thing is the Govt won't introduce a windfall tax on the energy companies who are making billions by total chance That tax could then be used to offset the increases in fuel bills

The choice to favour energy firms over consumers will hopefully prove catastrophic in the May local elections.

They must be creaming themselves at the thought of tens of thousands of useless eaters kicking the bucket.
Even if half of them (at least) did vote for them.

Call me naive but if my shop is paying me a decent wage and I have a bit of profit to reinvest in stock and hardware, I do not put my retail prices up. Energy companies are making obscene profits and not giving anything back to the customer. A big difference between inflation and price gouging.

We were lucky in that we have a fixed rate up until November 2023.
We were scrutinising the small print to see if there was acatch but there doesn't seem to be.

It was done well before this so called 'cost of living crisis(Credit Crunch Mk2 perhaps?)
I see Johnston and his cronies are saying that it will last for years.
There was a snap protest up here last Saturday and barely 100 people attended(I heard about it through Unison)but it doesn't take a genius to realise it will take 100's of thousands to hit the tiles before they even blink.
Not that this will happen tbough with all these other distractions that they're feeding us...Covid, Ukraine War etc
