It's been like that for decades in both Berlin and Amsterdam.
The cycle routes in the former are absolutely top notch.
As an avid cyclist I don't use roads as they're way too dangerous.

All my local journeys are on foot or on bike - don't know why anyone drives round cities
Hopefully the fuel crisis will encourage more people to give up their motors for local journeys
Supermarket deliveries must be helping to reduce motor traffic too

It's not just the amount of motors on the road, it's the size of them, they're massive.
However, all these Just Eat cyclists do us no favours with their breaking of road rules, not only is it dangerous for motorists and other cyclists, pedestrians run the risk of getting flattened so someone can scoff a half cold pizza....

I've just come back from Stockholm and was very impressed with the way they've accommodated cyclists and pedestrians.

The whole system is better planned and maintained and cyclists are really considerate to other cyclists and pedestrians. Motors just seem to be becoming less of a majority which is always going to be a good thing.

I remember seeing number plates on bicycles in Singapore in the 1990s. They must have been old bikes as the law requiring them was removed in 1982. The idea dates back to British colonial times

Sorry, all, but I fucking loathe cyclists. the majority of them are all over the place where I drive and have only a basic understanding of the rules of the road. They are a complete danger to themselves and others and if they use the roads why shouldn't they contribute to the upkeep as other road users do? Not a lot, but they should pay something and it might keep the most hopeless of them at bay. May have to go into hiding, now.

I would say most modern cyclists are complete arseholes with no road sense. Which is one of the reasons I stay off the road.
Mind you a lot of motorists are narcissistic selfish bastards who treat other motorists, pedestrians and cyclists with contempt.
So it's horses for courses.

Cyclists, welcome, you have just become the latest target in the culture wars How dare those tree-hugging communists move from A to B without ruining the environment and lining big oil bosses' pockets?

E-scooters and bikes are the preserve of fat, bearded vegans.
A completely unhealthy way to get around.
